Akwatia Chiefs Booked for Jubilee House Meeting ahead of Sep 2 by-election

Ahead of the September 2, 2025, by-election in Akwatia, Eastern Region, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has scheduled a meeting with chiefs in the area to discuss their needs and ensure that the government addresses them.

In a meeting with the chiefs and elders of Akwatia on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the chief of staff indicated that the chief, with his representatives, should meet him at the Jubilee House, where they will table all their needs to the respective ministers in charge, and he will ensure all their demands are met.

The Chief of Staff, who was in the constituency to campaign, indicated that it is about time politicians are held accountable for their promises, and that is why he and the chiefs will meet to have a written agreement on delivering on their promise to the people of Akwatia.

“I will want the chief to select his representatives to visit the Jubilee House on Tuesday so that they can table what the constituency needs. After which, there will be a binding agreement on us to deliver to the people of Akwatia. It is about time politicians deliver on their promises to the people, and that is what I intend to do. So Nananom will be seated here, and the ministers in charge will be seated there too, and they will table their needs, including roads, school buildings, water, and others, so that the people of Akwatia will know that we are being truthful to them and not just here to lie for votes,” he stated.

“We will not come here and say things just because we want votes. We will deliver on our promises to the people of Akwatia because elections should certainly lead to change and bring about the needed development,” he emphasized.

Akwatia goes to the polls on September 2, 2025, to elect a member of parliament. The election has become necessary after the death of Ernest Kumi after six months of being in Parliament.

The New Patriotic Party is doing everything possible to maintain the seat with the selection of Solomon Kwame Asumadu as their candidate for the election.

However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected Lawyer Baidoo, who is representing them in the election.
