Robbery and rape suspects arrested in Ashanti clampdown

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of several suspects involved in a string of armed robberies, with one suspect also confessing to rape.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police and Head of Public Affairs Unit/Ashanti Region, Godwin Ahianyo, “During interrogation, suspect Kwadwo Kyei Baffour admitted to participating in the robberies and confessed to raping a victim during one of the incidents.”
Additional suspects in custody include Kwadwo Konadu (28), James Asare Boateng (26), Emmanuel Asiedu (27), and Maxwell Gyimah (30).
Another suspect, Bernard Owusu Ansah—currently receiving medical attention under armed guard at KATH—led police to recover more firearms in his possession, including a Bruni Mod 92 Auto Cal 8mm pistol and a Ricol pump-action gun.
Weapons retrieved from the operation include a Taurus pistol, NP Cal 9x19mm pistol, a Jojeff pump-action shotgun, and a converted Foocico Cal 4.5mm pistol from suspect Joseph Oppong.
Other arrests include Kelvin Adomako, alias “Chemicals”, 29, and Daniel Dwumor, 46, for allegedly aiding in the Appiadu area robbery.
“All arrested suspects are in police custody and will be arraigned before court shortly,” DSP Ahianyo said.
“Intensive efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspect, Yahaya Nuhu, who is currently on the run.”
