The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central, Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, has officially filed his nomination with the Electoral Commission ahead of the by-election set for Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Prof. Seidu earned the slot after a resounding win in the party’s primaries at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on September 6, where he polled 840 votes out of 1,511.
His closest contender, Abdul Hannan Gundado, secured 536 votes.
Meanwhile, Channel One TV reports that candidates from the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) and the People’s National Congress (PNC) have also picked nomination forms but are yet to submit them before the September 10 deadline.
The by-election follows the tragic death of sitting MP Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who lost his life in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.
