All 6 potential recruits who died in the stampede were females

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that all 6 victims of the military stampede are females.

He made this know while speaking at the launch of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti.

“The tragic news is that I have been informed by the military that six young women, who simply sought an opportunity to serve their nation, lost their lives in this heartbreaking incident. We are praying for the 12 others who remain in critical condition,” the President said.

The President used the opportunity to wish the family of their bereaved his condolences and prayed that the injured will be healed.

John Dramani Mahama called for an investigation into circumstances that led to the death of the six victims.

Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed the death of six prospective personnel. 

A statement from the service said the six died as a result of the stampede ahead of the recruitment exercise today. 

Preliminary investigations indicate that the stampede was triggered by an unexpected surge of applicants who breached security protocols and rushed into the gates ahead of scheduled screening at about 0620 hours.
