Islamic cleric Sheikh Abdul Malik Maiga has made a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to consider embracing Islam, describing it as the next step in strengthening his spiritual journey and connection with Allah.
Delivering his Jummah sermon on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Sheikh Maiga reflected on the former president’s unique rise to power, stating, “Allah has truly shown His mercy and favour upon President Mahama.”
According to him, Mahama’s political journey, particularly his first ascension to the presidency without contesting a traditional presidential election, was evidence of divine intervention.
“His political trajectory and the circumstances of his rise are a testament to divine intervention,” Sheikh Maiga explained.
He noted that Mahama’s leadership and the wealth of experience he brings to Ghanaian politics are blessings from the Almighty.
“The Almighty Allah chose President Mahama to lead Ghana at this time in the nation’s history in order for citizens to benefit from his remarkable leadership qualities and unique political experiences acquired over the years,” the cleric added.
Encouraging the President to take his spiritual life a step further, Sheikh Maiga stated: “It is only fitting that, to continue enjoying this divine favour, he considers embracing Islam.”
