American woman behind viral kidnapping video fails to cooperate with Ghana Police

The Ghana Police Service says its investigation into a viral kidnapping-and-robbery claim has stalled because the woman at the center of the video is refusing to cooperate.

According to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the woman—identified in the video as Arianna Naomi Mackey—alleged that “five masked men posing as Ghana Police officers kidnapped me and took my money.”

However, police say her actions since the video surfaced have made the investigation difficult.

“We contacted her directly, but she told us, ‘I’m out of the country now and I don’t have the names or the number plate,’” the CID noted.

“Officers say she also refused to provide the contact information of the friend she claimed was with her during the alleged incident, telling investigators that the friend “does not want to be involved.”

Police further report that she has deleted the video from her social media page, stopped responding to WhatsApp messages, and eventually blocked the investigative team.

“Our attempts to reach her have all failed,” the statement said. “She has declined to respond and has blocked investigators.”

Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo emphasized that the Service remains committed to uncovering the truth but added that progress depends heavily on the alleged victim’s cooperation.

“We take such allegations very seriously,” she stated, “but we need her to assist us so we can establish the facts.”
