Anti-corruption fight requires patience and collective action

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has emphasized the importance of a collaborative national effort in the fight against corruption, urging Ghanaians to exercise patience as due process takes its course in high-profile cases.
Speaking on TV3 monitored by MyNewsGh, he welcomed recent calls by government officials for citizens to remain calm, insisting that the constitutional process must guide accountability efforts.
According to Kpebu, tackling corruption cannot be left to political leaders alone. “We are doing a whole-of-society approach in governance,” he explained.
“Government, private sector, civil society, all of us must join together to fight corruption.”
While acknowledging the public’s frustration, he cautioned against pushing authorities to rush cases without proper legal scrutiny.
“Where we seem to be running ahead of him too much, he needs to remind us to be a bit patient because there has to be due process,” he said.
Kpebu argued that citizens remain a vital force in exposing wrongdoing, citing past investigations initiated by public whistleblowing.
He encouraged continued vigilance but called for a balanced approach that allows justice mechanisms to function without political pressure.
