Apply for your visa early— Canadian High Commissioner to World Cup patrons

High Commissioner of Canada to Ghana, HE Myrian Montrat, has urged Ghanaians who will be attending the 2026 World Cup to apply for their Canadian visas early.
She argues that it will be right to go to the source rather than use any third party to secure visas because it won’t be possible.
Speaking to Diplomacy Unscripted in an interview, she said, “We are working with our colleagues in the US and Mexico to ensure that we have some cohesion and coherence in the way in which we approach the World Cup. Clearly, my advice for people who are interested in attending the World Cup to ensure that they are putting in their visa application as early as possible.
The reason is that you’ll also have lots of third organizations that will try to pretend that they can make it easier or faster and will guarantee that there will be a visa. That is simply not true, the best way is to go directly to the source to avoid scammers,” she stated.
She indicated that the embassies are working to ensure that securing visas for the World Cup is as smooth as possible, as they are anticipating that there will be a lot of demand for visas.
The High Commissioner urged persons who will be given the visa to respect the immigration rules and ensure that they do what they said they were going to do and come back to their respective countries.
