As a 3-time MP, why ridicule me publicly?

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has expressed deep frustration after a scheduled appearance before the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Disciplinary Committee failed to take place on Monday, April 7.
Supporters of the former Deputy Majority Leader had gathered at the party’s headquarters in Accra, expecting her to face the committee over comments she made regarding the NPP’s performance in the 2024 elections — remarks deemed by the party as a breach of internal communication protocols.
However, upon her arrival at the Asylum Down office, Adwoa Safo was met with the surprising news that the committee was not sitting.
“I’m prepared for a committee hearing; I come, and I am told the Committee is not sitting. So I just packed my bag and went out,” she told the media. “As a party, we have to be serious about these things. Because I am told you are going to be disciplined; that’s what the Disciplinary Committee is all about. So why ridicule me in public, and I come here, and you tell me that the committee is not even sitting?”
According to Safo, she received the summons on a Sunday and made herself available as instructed, only to find no arrangements had been made for the hearing. She questioned the lack of communication, especially since party officials had direct access to her.
“If there was a change of plans, why wasn’t I personally informed? Why wasn’t I contacted by phone? Some of you have my number directly,” she stressed.
The former Minister of State, visibly upset, underscored her seniority in the party and expressed disappointment over how the matter was handled.
“The message you sent to the whole of Ghana is that I have done something untoward the party, so I have to come to be disciplined. A senior member of this party, former deputy majority leader, former cabinet minister, and former minister of state. 3-time member of Parliament, and this is how I am ridiculed? I thought there was a better way of handling this matter,” she lamented.
The confusion surrounding her appearance has raised concerns about internal processes within the party, with calls for clearer communication and respect for due process.
