Ashanti Reg. Minister, Fire Service PRO clash over his attack on firefighters

There seems to be a brewing tension between the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Fire Service and some members of the governing National Democratic Congress.
The tension emanates from comments made by the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Fire Service, Alex King Nartey, on some harsh comments made by the Ashanti Regional Minister at firefighters who fought to ensure the market fires at Adum in Kumasi were doused.
Alex King Nartey who is being dragged on social media in an interview on Accra-based Gh One TV explained that their standard operating procedure requires that at least one tender is left of the fire scene so that any water that comes will be filled into it. For that reason, it was right that the fire tender be stationed there even if there was no water in it.
He explained that the regional minister’s shouting that the empty fire tender be removed was contrary to their standard operating procedure. He was worried such actions would demoralise the fire officers who are risking their lives under difficult circumstances to fight fires.
His explanation and subsequent posts shared via social media did not sit well with Onasis Kobby has called for him to be removed from the position he occupies.
The Ashanti Regional Minister in a similar post indicated that Alex King Nartey is not a service personnel but a politician; a stance Alex King Nartey has denied.
Meanwhile, although Alex King Nartey has apologized for his utterances, he is of the view that the attacks on firefighters by the Ashanti Regional Minister are uncalled for and should not be encouraged.
