Asutifi North MP fully cooperated with police, lawyers say as court allows bail

The legal team of Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has confirmed that the legislator fully cooperated with police investigations and was duly arraigned before the Circuit Court in Accra.

His solicitor, Kwasi Gyamfi Boadu, explained in a statement that the MP honoured the invitation extended by the Ghana Police Service and went through the required procedures before being granted bail.

“The Court did not take his plea upon the representation by the Police that further investigations are ongoing, and in effect, the investigative period stands unofficially extended pending the conclusion of those inquiries,” the statement said.

According to the legal team, Hon. Addo met all bail conditions and has since resumed his parliamentary duties.

The statement stressed his presumption of innocence, noting, “Hon. Addo is, and remains, innocent of all allegations levelled against him unless and until a court of competent jurisdiction determines otherwise.”

With the case still before the court, the team also cautioned against prejudicial commentary.

“Given that the matter is sub judice and remains pending before a court of competent jurisdiction, no substantive public commentary will be made on the merits of the case until its final determination, consistent with established legal and ethical obligations,” counsel added.
