Maintaining one party in power for a long time will aid Ghana’s development – Chairman Wontumi

Bernard Antwoi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Ashanti, Ghana is evolving more quickly than Europe.

According to him, Ghana’s progress has been impeded by the country’s political cycle, which sees the country’s leaders rotate every eight years rather than by incompetence.

According to Wontumi, Ghana must maintain one political party in power for an extended period of time.

At the NPP UK Townhall meeting held at the Trinity Baptist Church in Croydon, London, he disclosed this.

“We need to keep one political party in power for long before we can have the big transformation to develop our country. There is something called political transition. If NPP loses and NDC comes, they have to use two years to look at contracts, and appointments among others before anything can take place. So for two years, development lags,” he said.

“So one political party has to be kept in power because two years for the transition and one year for governance then we are in another election year,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi said that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s initiatives are excellent and said that, in comparison, Ghana is evolving more quickly than Europe.
