Basintale is a force, not a fool – Blakk Rasta to Afrifa

Radio personality and reggae musician Blakk Rasta has questioned the motive behind NPP media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensa’s recent outburst directed at Malik Basintale, the Acting CEO of the Youth Employment Agency and Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC.
Speaking on his Black Pot show on YouTube monitored by MyNewsGh, Blakk Rasta asked bluntly, “What really did Malik do?” in response to Afrifa Mensa’s comments describing Basintali’s actions as “fooling.”
According to Afrifa Mensa, Basintali’s growing influence and conduct within the NDC could become a liability if political power shifts.
“You are a young man and you must stop fooling. Otherwise, power will change hands and you will be so sorry,” Afrifa said on his For the Record show. “When you have political power, you behave as if the whole world belongs to you.”
Blakk Rasta, however, believes the attacks are rooted more in envy than substance. “Is it his fault that he has all the youth around him? That he commands the youth in Ghana?” he asked, referencing Basintali’s popularity, especially among young party foot soldiers.
In response to Afrifa’s warning, Basintali released a video rebuttal on social media, speaking in Dagbani. “There is a saying that a truthful, indigenous and proud Dagomba man does not take his issues to the police station or the court. He makes sure the issues are resolved on the street with Allah. When we get there, everything shall be fine,” he said.
Blakk Rasta clarified that Basintali’s “street” reference should not be misinterpreted as a call for violence, but rather a figurative way of saying issues should be resolved directly and honestly.
Basintali is known for his grassroots organizing and recently led a youth convoy to Ablekuma North ahead of the July 11, 2025 parliamentary rerun. His ability to mobilize hundreds of young supporters has earned him both praise and criticism in Ghana’s political space.
