Bawumia appeals for Kejetia Market Phase II to be completed

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has appealed to the current government to ensure the Phase II of the Kejetia Market is completed.

He made this known when he visited the central Business District of Kumasi on March 25, 2025.

 “I want to appeal to the [Mahama] government to complete the 80% done Kejetia Market Phase 2 that we started but couldn’t complete,” the former vice president appealed.

He used the opportunity to donate an amount of Ghc 200,000 and some 1,000 bags of cement to support the rebuilding of the burnt market.

The former Vice President and flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections used the opportunity to commend the Ghana National Fire Service for dousing the fire.

Scores of shops in the Central Business District of Kumasi succumbed to raving fire Friday dawn.

Several properties running on millions of cedis were destroyed by the fire, whose cause is yet to be ascertained by the Ghana National Fire Service.

Although some traders could save some of their wares, the majority of the traders could not save any of their properties.

Several leading members of government have visited the scene to see how devastating the scenes are and have pledged to provide support to ensure that traders affected by the fire are provided with some support.
