Bawumia calls for discipline among the rank and file of NPP

Former Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the rank and file of the NPP to be disciplined as the party works to choose a leader.
He says an army that wants to win a battle must exercise discipline within its ranks in order to prevent their opponents from getting missiles to use against them.
The former flagbearer recollected how the NDC used some of the attacks on him by party folks during the 2024 campaign and called for a decorous campaign during the internal elections.
“An army that wants to win a battle must exercise discipline within its ranks. Too often when we are yet to choose leaders, indiscipline, unacceptable language and unpardonable behaviors become the order of the day.
In the end when internal competitions are over, the attacks we would have launched on ourselves become fodder with which the other parties attack us. We experienced it the other time and we should not let it happen again second time,” he said.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference held on July 19, 2025 at the University of Ghana Sports stadium used the opportunity to remind the party of the need for unity and reinvesting in the ties that binds the party.
“Our foundation and strength has always been in building a united party. We have been the part that has over the years built the broadest collation of citizens. Not just to win but to Govern,” he stated.
