Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is set to meet former MMDCEs of the New Patriotic Party today Monday June 23, 2025.
The meeting scheduled to take place at Alisa Hotel at 11 am will allow the former flagbearer of the opposition NPP to make his decision to contest in the upcoming primaries known.
His meeting with the MMDCEs come after he had met with some Members of Parliament who have assured him of their support in the upcoming election.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has also met with the Chairmen of the political party at their conference in Kumasi, where he preached against the use of tribe and religion as a political weapon to divide the political party.
He used the opportunity to remind colleagues and the party that the contest must certainly be about ideas and not attacks and insults.
The New Patriotic Party has announced that the party will go to the polls on January 31, 2026.
The decision to elect a flagbearer early is to provide leadership for a formidable opposition and also to unify the party way ahead of the 2028 elections.
