Bawumia no longer NPP’s undisputed leader

Seasoned journalist Kwesi Pratt has suggested that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, once the clear face of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), no longer enjoys the same dominance within the party’s internal politics following the elections.
Pratt pointedly remarked, “Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is no longer the candidate of the party. In fact, he’s in the same position as all the others that we hear want to be presidential candidates.”
Pratt explained that the leadership dynamics within the NPP have shifted significantly, noting, “The leader of the party now is Mr. Stephen Ntim, National Chairman. He’s always been the leader during election time. Even when you’re in government, he’s still the leader.”
The analysis signals a major turning point not only for Dr. Bawumia but for the broader political strategy of the NPP as it gears up for future contests. Pratt stressed that internal reorganization should already be underway.
“The party ought to be looking at election twenty twenty-eight,” he said, implying that the next battle for leadership is wide open — and Bawumia will have to compete on equal footing with other aspirants.
He said this on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme which was monitored by MyNewsGH.
