Bawumia should apologize, not congratulate himself — Ayariga

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga, has strongly criticized Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s handling of Ghana’s economy and currency management.
In a fiery statement on GHOne monitored by MyNewsGh, Ayariga claimed that Bawumia owes the Ghanaian people an apology for his failure and should instead be congratulating economic actors like Forcet.
He said,”Bawumia should be apologizing to us due to his inability to even manage a currency and be congratulating the likes of Forcet.”
Ayariga reminded the public of Bawumia’s earlier praise for a seven-member economic management team led by Dr. Baffour, which, according to him, failed to deliver results.
He contrasted this with the achievements of Forcet, who, he claims, accomplished in months what the team could not.
“You remember Bawumia saying the strong economic management team — Professor John Baffour, Alan Sherman, strong economic management team — what that seven-member committee headed by Dr. Baffour couldn’t do, one man at Forcet has done it.
“Couldn’t do what Bawumia and his seven-member economic management team couldn’t do, but Forcet has done within five, six months.”
Osman Ayariga went further, demanding that Bawumia “apologize to Ghanaians and congratulate His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.” He questioned the sincerity of Bawumia’s recent apology and accused him of attempting to deceive members of the opposition party.
“If he’s still going on this tangent of trying to deceive the PPP members, I think the PPP members are wide awake and they should know that what Bawumia is doing and the theatrics again is all about dishonesty.”
He boldly labeled Bawumia as a “con artist” attempting to fool the public into believing he has changed.
“The theatrics and the dishonesty are all you know attributes of someone who is trying to be a con artist.
“So if I say he’s being a con artist, he’s being a con artist because he’s trying to deceive the MPP, deceive Ghanaians that he’s a changed man now. And for that matter, he’s apologized Ghana. Bawumia’s apology is a very dishonest apology.”
