Bawumia will only contest if he remains NPP’s best option – Abdul Kabiru

Member of Parliament for Walewale, Hon. Abdul Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has urged a thorough and scientific assessment of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) electoral defeat instead of attributing blame to individuals.

“Several theories will come into play as to why the NPP lost the elections. Some people will say it was the arrogance of power, some will say it was government policies, and others will blame the nature and approach of the campaign,” he stated.

He explained that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is taking his time to analyze the situation based on facts, science, and data before making any political decisions.

“The vice president doesn’t want to go with the euphoria or the noise. He wants to take his time, driven by facts, science, and data, to understand what happened.

The party can then sit and make informed decisions from there,” he added.

Hon. Mahama further emphasized that the vice president would only consider presenting himself for another opportunity if the full assessment supports his candidacy.

“If the vice president is a danger to the NPP’s ability to recapture power, he will not present himself. He puts the party and the good people of Ghana above his personal interest,” he asserted.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia is yet to officially declare his political intentions, contrary to speculations.

“If anyone tells you the vice president has declared his intention to contest the next election, I would say that it is not born out of fact,” he clarified.
