Bawumia’s humility is genuine, not political – Sammi Awuku

Former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, has mounted a strong defence of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s character, describing the former Vice President as a naturally humble and unifying leader.
Speaking to party supporters, Awuku dismissed suggestions that Dr. Bawumia’s calm and personable demeanour is merely political branding. According to him, unlike other aspirants in the flagbearer race, Bawumia does not put on a façade when seeking votes.
“Dr. Bawumia is not fake. His humility is natural,” Awuku stressed. “Some people only laugh when they are contesting for positions, pretentious laughs, but Bawumia is never like that.”
The MP said Dr. Bawumia’s authenticity is what endears him to the grassroots of the party, adding that his personality has remained consistent throughout his political journey.
“With Bawumia, what you see is what you get. He loves people, and he unites people,” Awuku stated.
He further urged party delegates to back a leader who embodies sincerity and unity, emphasising that genuine humility, not performance, is what the NPP needs as it prepares for future elections.
