Bawumia’s team intimidating supporters of Ken Agyapong

Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah, has taken a swipe at the party’s leadership after a petition against him was referred to the National Council for disciplinary action.

Speaking to 3news, Owusu-Bempah described the development as part of a wider scheme to silence supporters of Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.

“It is a clandestine agenda by the Bawumia team to ostracize anybody who speaks for Ken Agyapong, that is the intimidation,” he said.

According to him, the irony is that the same party leadership that plans to stage demonstrations against political intimidation is now intimidating its own members for speaking their minds.

“The party is going for a demonstration over intimidation [yet] the very people [are] intimidating their members who speak their minds,” Owusu-Bempah argued.

He further cited the conduct of Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, who has publicly criticized the party without facing sanctions.

“Abronye called the whole national executive committee as kangaroo, but nobody called him because Bawumia,” he fumed.

Owusu-Bempah believes that elements loyal to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are behind the petition, stressing that their tactics will not deter him from openly supporting Kennedy Agyapong’s philosophy and leadership style.
