Be serious and stop the jama songs

Kwesi Pratt praised the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, for maintaining order amid chaos during Wednesday’s session, where Minority MPs attempted to halt proceedings over the Kpandai seat dispute.
“The Speaker was very, very measured and carried on the duty of Parliament as if nothing was wrong.
“All bills were approved without any hiccup. His performance is commendable,” Pratt said on Good Morning Ghana monitored by MyNewsGh.
He criticized the disruptive tactics of Minority MPs, saying they missed a key opportunity to present alternatives to government proposals.
“Yesterday was a fine opportunity to explain the alternatives that the NPP has to government projections… but you are just singing Jama songs,” he stated.
Pratt also noted the changing culture of parliamentary protests. “Some of the things that happened in the 1960s and 1970s would have resulted in people going to prison today,” he said, highlighting that modern democracy allows protest but requires responsibility.
The journalist concluded by urging MPs to take their roles seriously. “You can protest about everything, but those who exercise that right ought to take this country a little more seriously,” he emphasized.
