Blakk Rasta backs Basintale over controversial Dagomba proverb

Radio personality and reggae musician Blakk Rasta has heaped praise on acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Malik Basintale, hailing him as a powerful voice among the youth and a communicator of substance.
The comments were made on Blakk Rasta’s Black Pot YouTube show, where he also touched on a brewing tension between Basintale and pro-NPP media figure Kwame Afrifa.
Blakk Rasta opened his remarks by highlighting a viral moment involving Basintale:“Now the internet is awash with comments Malik Basintale made whilst he was on his way into his car. Somebody asked him a question and he responded in Dagbani.”
He expressed surprise over Basintale’s fluency in Dagbani, noting that many Ghanaians were unaware of his linguistic capabilities given his Gonja roots.
“Many never knew that Malik Basintale could speak Dagbani because he’s a Gonja man. Many never knew he was this fluent… with cultural wealth,” Blakk Rasta remarked.
Beyond language, Blakk Rasta applauded Basintale’s energy and influence, particularly among young people.
“He’s a young man who has been able to get the youth running around him. You would normally see him on motorbikes with so many of these people around him,” he noted, adding that Basintale’s presence during the campaign trail was impossible to miss.
He further described the NDC deputy communicator as a force both on-screen and on the ground:
“In the run-up to the elections, he was a solid force both on TV and on radio. He also hit the road so very hard promoting his party and the whims and caprices of this great nation called Ghana.”
Blakk Rasta also acknowledged Basintale’s colleague, Sammy Gyamfi Esq., describing him as another strong pillar within the NDC communication machinery.
Turning to a reported feud between Malik Basintale and pro-NPP advocate and media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, Blakk Rasta expressed concern but acknowledged both men’s love for Ghana:
“Malik Basintale and AFRIFA, a colleague media person and former member of Fix The Country… he is affiliated with the NPP. And there seems to be a certain feud.”
