Feel the heat if you want – Ellen Daaku cautions Owusu Bempah over Bawumia comments

A leading voice in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has taken a firm stand against recent remarks by Ernest Owusu Bempah, cautioning him to refrain from making disparaging comments about Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Owusu Bempah sparked controversy after suggesting that the NPP had made a poor decision by selecting Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2024 presidential election. The comments drew heavy criticism, prompting Owusu Bempah to issue clarifications in an attempt to quell the backlash.

However, speaking on Movement TV, Ellen Ama Daaku didn’t mince words. She slammed Owusu Bempah for what she described as an attempt to use Bawumia as a scapegoat in pushing a personal agenda.

“Don’t make Dr. Bawumia your chewing stick,” she said pointedly, warning him against continuously targeting the Vice President in public commentary.

She believes that his effort to undermine Bawumia in favour of his preferred candidate, Kennedy Agyapong, has fallen flat. “It has backfired and this should serve as a caution to you. You can campaign for your preferred candidate but if you want to feel the heat, then you can continue,” she added.

In his earlier comments on Oyerepa TV, Owusu Bempah insisted that grassroots support for Kennedy Agyapong remains strong, based on what he claims are consistent sentiments from ordinary Ghanaians. He argued that the party’s leadership must align with what the people want rather than relying on old political strategies.

“I do not sit here and speak on my own but rather, I listen to the grassroots and the ordinary Ghanaian and they are saying they want Kennedy Agyapong,” Owusu Bempah stated.
