Buchi criticizes Toke Makinwa for linking God to pregnancy outside marriage

Life coach and social commentator Solomon Buchi has reacted strongly to media personality Toke Makinwa’s pregnancy announcement, questioning her decision to tie the news to her faith.

“I’m happy that Toke is having a child at almost 40; it seems it’s something she really desired as a woman, but I have a problem with mixing Jesus and God with it,” Buchi said.

“We really need to be very careful how we mix God with our personal decisions. You are having a child outside of wedlock, there is no need bringing God into that, spiritualizing it.

“Honestly, you can give your testimony without infusing God into it because according to God’s standard, the only right way to be a parent is in the premise of marriage.”

His remarks followed Makinwa’s emotional announcement on Instagram, where she described her pregnancy as the “biggest project” and “highest calling” of her life.

“Dear God, you did this one, you have completely changed my life. You opened this door that nobody can shut,” she wrote, reflecting on how 2025 had brought a complete turnaround in her life.

Makinwa explained that the journey had tested her patience and faith, but ultimately strengthened her. “I didn’t understand why it took so long but now I see it. You worked on my heart posture to get me ready for the biggest blessing and the highest calling,” she shared.

Addressing her unborn child, she added with affection: “My bug, I cannot wait to meet you. You’ve made me the happiest person on earth… The answer to my prayers, this whole journey has given me life.”
