Cape Coast teaching Hospital records 25 Christmas babies, receives MTN Baby hampers

Cape Coast Teaching Hospital recorded 25 babies born on Christmas Day and received baby hampers from MTN Ghana in a surprise visit by the company’s management.

The visit was marked by joy and excitement as MTN Ghana presented baby hampers to the Christmas babies at the hospital.

The hampers contained essential items including diapers, detergents, toys, soap, baby oil and other personal care products.

The gesture was warmly welcomed by the new mothers. Speaking on behalf of the hospital management and beneficiaries, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, Madam Veronica Koomson, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana and highlighted the challenges faced by many expectant mothers.

“On behalf of the hospital management, the Obstetrics and Gynecology unit, and the beneficiary mothers, I say a very big thank you to MTN.

On occasions like this, you always come and give us what the babies need. Indeed, most pregnant women come to the delivery ward with nothing, not even baby diapers, and nurses sometimes have to contribute money to support needy mothers,” she said.

Madam Koomson noted that the donated hampers would provide much-needed relief and support for the newborns and their mothers.

“We thank MTN very much and pray that the good Lord will replenish them so the company can continue to support underprivileged mothers,” she added.

Presenting the items on behalf of MTN Ghana, Madam Regina Arkaifie, who is in charge of Human Resources for the Western and Central Regions, drew inspiration from the biblical account of the birth of Jesus, where the wise men presented gifts to welcome the newborn.

According to her, MTN’s gesture reflects a similar spirit. “MTN is replicating this act by welcoming these babies into the world and ushering them into the MTN family,” she explained.

Touching on MTN’s plans for the coming year, Madam Arkaifie said the company would be introducing exciting products and services to the market.

“On behalf of MTN management, we are grateful that MTN, as a business, continues to contribute its quota to the communities we operate in, to impact lives and welcome these babies,” she said.
