Cash, uniforms and documents burnt as fire guts Jacobu Police barracks

An unspecified amount, police uniforms and some vital documents have all been reduced to ashes after fire gutted a section of the police barracks at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.
The cause of the fire, according to MyNewsGh.com sources, is not immediately known, but it is believed to have occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at about 11:45 am.
The timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Service saved the situation as nearby structures were nearly gutted by the blazing inferno that sparked from two rooms.
According to some eyewitness accounts, Â there was heavy smoke coming out from the ceiling of two rooms in the barracks, which later burst into flames, consuming personal effects, uniforms, cash and other valuables of the victims.
At the time fire service personnel from Bekwai arrived, two of the rooms were totally burnt, while other rooms were partially damaged. Six remaining rooms, which were locked up, were also broken into and personal belongings of officers, who at the time were not around, were brought out by the other officers with the assistance of some good Samaritans
