CCTV camera was taken away – Minority raises alarm over raid on former officials

The Minority in Parliament has raised serious concerns over the legality of a recent raid targeting former government appointees, accusing the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, of abusing his office by ordering searches and arrests.
Addressing journalists in Parliament on Monday, March 24, Second Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib criticized the manner in which the operation was conducted, questioning why basic legal procedures were not followed.
“Brute force was used to overpower his private security,” he stated, further alleging that authorities deliberately removed key evidence. “The CCTV camera was dismantled and taken away.”
Ahmed Shaib underscored the importance of transparency in lawful enforcement, arguing that the raid lacked proper legal backing.
“Transparency is a hallmark that ensures lawful enforcement,” he said, adding that the government’s failure to adhere to due process undermines trust in the justice system.
He also questioned why a court-issued warrant, if it existed, was not presented at the time of the operation. “The failure to follow basic procedures casts doubt on the legality and intent of the operation. No amount of legal contortion or public relations spin can undo the facts,” he insisted.
