He Told Us He’s NPP & One of us During Bawumia Meetings — DMB Volunteers Expose Prof Alidu Seidu

A senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Alidu Seidu, contesting the upcoming Tamale North by-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been exposed as having worked for the NPP and even admitted to supporting the candidature of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
Prof Alidu’s NDC switch has sparked heated debate in political circles, as some individuals who worked with him during the 2024 general election claimed he admitted to be being NPP and urged them on the field to work hard for the NPP to retain power.
According to them, Prof. Seidu led research surveys and grassroots mobilization strategies across Ghana to guide the NPP-Bawumia campaign in 2024 after one Director of Research at Jubilee House, name withheld, introduced him to the NPP bigwigs.
Several campaign volunteers who say they worked closely with him allege that Prof. Seidu openly declared his sympathy for the NPP and expressed strong confidence in Bawumia’s chances of winning the election.
“He told us clearly that he wanted Bawumia to win and that he was one of us”, a campaign volunteer, AtampugbireMilton alleged in a TikTok video.
Prof. Seidu’s switch has therefore been described by critics as a “political U-turn,” raising questions about his real ideological leanings and political loyalty. Some NPP activists accuse him of “betrayal,” while NDC supporters insist his decision reflects the growing appeal of the opposition party ahead of the 2028 polls.
The Tamale North seat became vacant following the resignation of its MP, and the by-election has since become a key battleground for both major parties. With Prof. Seidu now contesting on the NDC’s ticket, analysts believe the race could take an unexpected twist, given his academic profile and prior political work with the NPP.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the official date for the by-election in the coming days.
