Cement prices haven’t dropped to GHC 82 – Okyere Baafi slams NDC’s propaganda

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Mr. Baafi asserted that the price of cement remains unchanged and that the government has not engaged with manufacturers to influence or reduce prices.
“Despite claims from the NDC that cement prices have dropped to 82 Ghana Cedis, the truth is — prices remain unchanged,” he stated.
“The government has not held any discussions with cement manufacturers to bring prices down. Ghana’s economy operates under a free market system, where prices are driven by market forces, not political gimmicks.”
Baafi further explained that while the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi presents an opportunity for producers to pass on cost benefits to consumers, no such coordinated effort has been made. Instead, he accused the NDC of spreading misleading information that does not reflect the current market reality.
“The NDC continues to spin stories that don’t align with the facts,” Baafi emphasized. “We urge producers to leverage the cedi’s strength for the good of Ghanaians. It’s time for transparent leadership that prioritizes the people — not empty propaganda.”
He concluded his message by calling for accountability and urging stakeholders to be truthful about economic conditions.
“Ghana deserves truth, stability, and affordable prices,” Baafi added. “Let’s demand accountability.”
The debate over cement pricing has become a heated topic in the build-up to the 2024 general elections,
