Chairman Wontumi falls sick during EOCO interrogation; rushed to the hospital

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been rushed to the hospital.
This is according to his lawyer, Andy Appiah Kubi, who was with him while he was being interrogated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Although he will not disclose the hospital Wontumi has been rushed to, he insists that his client will be there until he is discharged by doctors.
He explained that EOCO picked up his client with regard to issues bothering his relationship with the Exim Bank.
“My client has been taken to the hospital. He is receiving treatment, so he will be there until the Doctor discharges him. I know where he is, but I’m not going to disclose it. We have given our statement; they preferred some allegations against him, he responded to them, and we haven’t finished with the interrogation, so we will come back to continue, hopefully tomorrow if his condition improves.
Nevertheless, we have also received a writ of summons from Exim Bank and we are going to respond to the pleadings tomorrow and I am very hopeful that we will be able to mount a defence of the writ. When we are in court, we will indicate that to the court that this we consider a civil matter for which reason Exim Bank has issued a writ of summons which we are also responding. This one of a supposed criminal investigation, I am sure and confident that we will also be able to surmount a defense,” he said.
