Chief Justice Suspension: Supreme Court has been very political in the past 8 years

Franklin Cudjoe, the founder and president of IMANI Africa, has expressed strong concerns over the suspension of the Chief Justice, criticizing the political nature of the Supreme Court’s recent actions and questioning the law requiring private proceedings in such matters.
In a social media post this morning, Cudjoe took aim at the Supreme Court, asserting that over the past eight years, the institution has displayed significant political bias.
He stated, “Truth be told, the Supreme Court in the last 8 years has been very political, high-handed and a willing pliant for the previous government in pursuing most of its very dark agenda.”
He argued that the court has been “high-handed” and has acted as a “pliant” ally for the previous government, citing high-profile cases such as those involving Martin Amidu (SALL), Daniel Domelevo, and James Quayson.
These cases, according to Cudjoe, exemplify the Court’s willingness to support “dark agendas” from the past administration.
Cudjoe also voiced skepticism about the law stipulating that all proceedings to determine the fate of the Chief Justice must be held in private until a decision is reached.
He questioned the transparency and fairness of such a process, expressing doubts over the legal framework that shrouds these proceedings in secrecy.
Cudjoe’s comments come amid growing public attention to the ongoing developments surrounding the Chief Justice’s suspension, further fueling the national debate on judicial independence and accountability in Ghana.
