Cloudy skies and afternoon thunderstorms expected in Accra, Kasoa, Ho and other parts of Ghana

Ghanaians should brace for a day of varied weather today, June 11, 2025, as the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) forecasts cloudy conditions with afternoon thunderstorms across most parts of the country.

Early morning mist and patches of fog are expected in parts of the coastal belt, especially in Accra and Kasoa, as well as in forested and mountainous areas like Ho, Koforidua, and Kumasi. These conditions may reduce visibility during the morning commute.

By mid-morning, clouds will dominate the skies nationwide, with occasional sunny intervals expected in places such as Techiman, Damongo, and Sunyani.

From the early afternoon into the evening, thunderstorms or rain showers of varying intensity are likely to affect many parts of the country. Accra, Kasoa, Ho, Kumasi, Tamale, and Bolgatanga are all expected to see a 40% chance of thunderstorms, with possible rainfall in other towns including Tarkwa, Takoradi, and Sefwi Bekwai.

Temperatures will generally range between 24°C and 36°C. The hottest spots will be in the northern parts of the country, including Tamale, Bolgatanga, and Nalerigu.

Sea conditions along Ghana’s coast are expected to remain rough, and caution is advised for those at sea.

The public is urged to stay alert, particularly in areas prone to flooding, and to take necessary safety precautions during periods of rain and thunderstorms.
