Consult your former presidents and rebuild united

Director of Logistics and Protocol for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ludwig Hlordze, has delivered a message of solidarity to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging them to draw strength from their past leadership and emerge from their National Delegates Conference more united and focused.

Speaking at the conference held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, Hlordze encouraged the NPP to recognize the value of its two surviving former presidents and avoid sidelining them.

“We also hope that after this conference, your party will appreciate the importance of having two surviving former presidents among you and continuously, adequately consult them to help build your party strong. Don’t alienate them outside the box,” he stated.

According to Hlordze, consultation with experienced leadership is essential for building a credible and vibrant opposition.

“They need you, you need them to be able to bring a strong opposition party,” he added. “We hope that after this conference, you live here united and not divided.”

He also reflected on the broader national context, describing Ghana as being in the middle of a critical transformation.

“The country, Ghana, is going through a reset process. It is very important that we, as political parties, reset our ideas, policies, and programs,” he said.

Commending the NPP for taking steps to reflect and restructure, Hlordze noted: “That is why we are happy that the biggest opposition party in our country is doing exactly that, to reset and play their role with constructive criticism, to support the nation builder John Mahama, to rebuild the Ghana we all want.”

He ended his remarks with a call for collective political responsibility and national unity. “We, as the political class, must leave a legacy for generations yet unborn.

“We can only do this when we continue to grow our democracy and create a country of opportunity for ourselves, our children, and generations yet unborn.

“Let us together, as political parties and Ghanaians, put our resources together in resetting our state institutions and create a just country for us all,” Hlordze concluded.
