Council of State expresses deep sorrow

The Council of State has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians.
Among the deceased were Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Hon. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the NDC; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former NDC parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
Describing the crash as a “national tragedy and a painful loss,” the Council extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, government, Parliament, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the NDC.
“We share in the grief and mourn the loss of these patriotic individuals who served our country with honour, diligence, and devotion,” said Rt. Hon. Doe Adjaho, Chairman of the Council.
He called on all Ghanaians to unite in prayer and uphold the values of sacrifice and service exemplified by the fallen.
