Court adjourns Mustapha Hamid case to December 9, 2025

In a new update on the Mustapha Hamid case, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) says the Criminal Division of the High Court has adjourned to 9 December 2025 the taking of plea in the case involving Hamid and nine others, who are facing charges of extortion and money laundering.
According to OSP, the adjournment follows an administrative reassignment of the case from Criminal Court 3 to Criminal Court 4 after prosecutors filed additional charges, increasing the counts from 25 to 54.
“Today’s hearing could not proceed as planned because the new court has rescheduled the matter to its next available date, 9 December,” the statement said.
OSP also noted that the first accused, Mustapha Hamid, could not move his application for the release of his passport due to the court change.
“He may move the application on the next adjourned date. The motion relates to travel plans to Canada between 17 and 23 November 2025 to attend an alleged political event,” OSP added.
The Special Prosecutor’s office confirmed that proceedings will continue in Criminal Court 4 on the rescheduled date, with all defendants remaining in custody pending further court action.
