Court grants bail to Baffour Awuah and another, remands one person

The Sunyani District Court, presided over by His Worship Moses Daning, made significant rulings in a case involving three individuals in the killing of the Asante Kotoko football club supporter, Francis Frimpong alias Pooley. Ignatius Baffour Awuah and another accused person have been granted bail, while a third individual has been remanded into custody.

In a hearing held earlier today, the Sunyani District Court granted bail to Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Chief Executive Officer of Nsoatreman Football Club and 32 year old Joseph Kyeremeh alias Santos,
each set at 500,000 Ghana Cedis with two sureties, one of each to be justified.
They were charged with abettment to commit crimes, to wit murder contrary to section 20(1) and 46 of the criminal offencs ACT of 1969 ACT 29.

According to the court they are to submit their passports to the registry to the court until future directed for the first fourteen days from today.
Furthermore, they must seek leave of the court before traveling out of Sunyani municipality and must report themselves to the police everyday for the first fourteen days.

The two accused persons were required to meet the bail conditions before their release.

However, a third individual involved in the same case, inspector Agyemang Duah Owusu alias Agyingo, 42 years of age was charged with murder and remanded into custody, pending further investigations and reappearance on 17th February, 2025.

On February 3, 2025, the Ghana Police Service arrested three individuals in connection with the violent disturbances that occurred yesterday, 2nd February 2025, during a football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region, resulting in the death of one person.

The suspects are Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu and Kyeremeh Joseph. All three suspects are taken to Police custody assisting in the investigation. According to the police a search conducted in the room of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu led to the retrieval of two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition.

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has spoken to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kokoto Football FC to express the condolences of the Police. He also assured the family and the Club of a thorough investigation into the matter.

A special team has been deployed from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters, to assist the Bono Regional Police Command in the investigation.
