We want to collaborate to eradicate hunger – Ga Mantse tells GTA

His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has pledged to provide office space within his palace to the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) as part of efforts to deepen collaboration ahead of this year’s Homowo festival.
The offer was made on Tuesday, May 7, 2025, during a meeting with GTA officials led by the Authority’s new Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
The engagement focused on strengthening tourism development in Accra and exploring ways to leverage cultural events like Homowo for national impact.
“We want to raise this platform with you and collaborate to see how best we can even eradicate hunger within Ghana,” the Ga Mantse said, signalling his wider vision for using tourism and culture as tools for social transformation.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II also disclosed plans to rehabilitate key tourist sites in Greater Accra that have fallen into disrepair, including the lighthouse and the nearby tourism centre.
He noted that although the GTA had previously invested in refurbishing these areas, they have since been neglected following the passing of the caretaker.
“Some of the tourist sites in Greater Accra, GTA has already invested some money into the tourist sites.
Example is the lighthouse, the tourism center there—a few years ago we refurbished it but our gentleman who took care of the place is no more so the place hasn’t been well kept so we plan to go back and rehabilitate the,” he stated.
