Czech President Petr Pavel to embark on historic three-day visit to Ghana

Ghana is set to host the President of the Czech Republic, His Excellency Petr Pavel, for a three-day state visit from April 8 to 10, 2025.

This visit marks a historic moment, as it will be the first by a Czech leader since diplomatic ties were first established between Ghana and then Czechoslovakia in October 1959.

A statement issued by the Presidency’s Communications Office confirmed that President John Dramani Mahama will receive the Czech leader, making this the first official state visit under his leadership since his return to office in January 2025.

While in Ghana, President Pavel will engage in high-level discussions with President Mahama, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

The Czech leader is also scheduled to address a business forum, inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility, and visit historic sites, including Osu Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, emphasized the importance of the visit, stating, “President Mahama will host a State Dinner in honour of the visiting Head of State.”

The visit is expected to reinforce economic and diplomatic ties, opening new avenues for collaboration between Ghana and the Czech Republic.
