Daddy Lumba invited me into his home to plan an album – King Promise

Afrobeats star King Promise has shared an emotional tribute to Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, revealing that the two were secretly working on a joint album before the music icon’s untimely death.

“I write this with a heavy heart,” King Promise began in a heartfelt message posted on social media. “Two months ago, the legend & I decided to work on a joint album together.”

According to the “Terminator” hitmaker, Daddy Lumba had been keeping a low profile but made an exception for him. “He stayed away from the public eye but invited me into his personal home,” he revealed. “We were going to sample some of his classics and create a new fusion sound as he loved what I have already done.”

King Promise expressed deep admiration and disbelief at the opportunity. “Imagine Daddy Lumba telling me how much he loved me & was proud of me. Dumbfounded because I couldn’t believe I was sitting in his living room alone with him getting advice from the goat himself.”

What was meant to be a surprise collaboration turned into a painful reality when the news broke. “I was hoping this morning’s story was a hoax after so many of them… but this time sadly, it wasn’t,” he wrote.

The singer concluded with a touching farewell: “RIP Papa. Heartfelt condolences to the family. We will forever keep your name and legacy flying. Sleep well.”

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, leaving behind a monumental legacy in Ghana’s music scene.
