Dafeamekpor sues Ntim Fordjour for defamation over bribery allegations

South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has filed a defamation suit against fellow legislator and Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, over a social media post alleging his involvement in a bribery scandal.

Filed at the High Court in Accra, the suit stems from a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which Ntim Fordjour reportedly claimed that Dafeamekpor, as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation, was complicit in receiving GHC 360,000 for the passage of a Legislative Instrument.

The post also alleged that the committee misappropriated GHC 49 million—claims Dafeamekpor firmly denies.

Describing the allegations as false, malicious, and damaging, Dafeamekpor argues that the claims have harmed his reputation, caused emotional distress, and disrupted his professional life.

He is seeking a court declaration that the statements are defamatory, along with a retraction, apology, and several forms of damages—general, aggravated, punitive, and compensatory.

Additionally, he wants a perpetual injunction to bar Ntim Fordjour from making further defamatory statements against him.

Ntim Fordjour has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit or indicate whether he will challenge it in court.
