Dates for Asantehemaa’s final funeral rites announced

The Ashanti Kingdom is preparing to bid a final farewell to its late Queen Mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, whose funeral rites will be held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi from September 14 to 18, 2025.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away at dawn on August 7, 2025, was deeply revered for her pivotal role in the Kingdom’s traditional affairs.
A one-week observation in her honor was already marked on August 21 at the forecourt of Manhyia Palace, drawing mourners from all walks of life.
In keeping with Ashanti customs, the upcoming funeral will see significant cultural observances.
All funerals across the Ashanti Kingdom will be suspended from September 1 to 18 to ensure undivided reverence to the memory of the late Asantehemaa.
On the final day, September 18, shops and businesses are expected to close to allow citizens and visitors alike to participate fully in the solemn rites and pay their last respects.
The four-day event is expected to attract a massive gathering of mourners, traditional leaders, and dignitaries from Ghana and beyond, as the Ashanti Kingdom unites to honor one of its most respected figures.
