D’banj is a stingy man; I got just $500 in two years

Nigerian rapper and singer Okafor Uchenna Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, has publicly accused music executive and artiste D’banj of exploiting him during a period he says spanned more than two years.

Speaking during an appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, Mr Real alleged that despite working closely with D’banj and performing at shows linked to him, he received only $500 in compensation throughout the entire period.

“The D’banj is a stingy man. If I die and D’banj no say to me before I die,” he said, adding, “After working for D’banj for more than two years, the only thing I get from this man is $500.”

Mr Real questioned the basis for the payment, stating that he was never given clarity on what the money represented. “For what? I don’t know,” he said during the interview.

He further claimed that he was frequently called to perform at shows without discussing payment in advance. “They call me for shows, I go go without asking for money. I go perform without asking for money,” he said.

According to Mr Real, he was repeatedly presented to others as D’banj’s artiste, a situation he believes created false public perceptions about his financial standing. “They show people I’m your artist… Because of this man, people for my street feel say I be stingy,” he stated.
