Deputy Minority Chief Whip demands update on August 6 plane crash

Deputy Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Tolon, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, has written to President John Dramani Mahama requesting an update on the tragic aircraft accident that claimed the lives of several government officials and security officers on August 6, 2025.
In his letter dated October 27, 2025, the MP invoked Article 21(1)(f) of the Constitution and Section 18 of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) to demand details on the findings of the committee set up to investigate the incident.
“I write to request for information or an update regarding the tragic aircraft accident that occurred on August 6, 2025,” he stated.
“This heartbreaking event took the lives of eight remarkable Ghanaians,” he added, listing the victims, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and others.
“The nation mourned together following this profound loss,” Habib Iddrisu noted. “On August 25, 2025, a committee of inquiry was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, and the public was informed that the findings would be shared within thirty days.”
