District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) yet to hit accounts of Assemblies a month after the finance minister announced transfer of funds

MyNewsGh.com has confirmed that the Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, PhD, was not truthful when he said the government had transferred an amount of GH¢987,965,730 into the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) as the first-quarter allocation for 2025.
Our checks with the various District Assemblies, a month after the Finance Minister’s announcement, indicate that no such funds have hit their accounts.
It is not clear when the various district assemblies will be provided with the funds to help support their activities.
Raising concerns on this issue is the Akyem Swedru Member of Parliament, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, who believes that the government is “doing this just to keep their books clean and create a temporary economic stability at the expense of the country’s development”.
He has questioned how long the government is going to use this approach indicating that it is not sustainable.
Making this known in a post shared via social media, he said, “It’s about a month now since the Government through its Finance Minister appeared before Parliament to inform the House that the Government has released the Qtr one (1) DACF allocation for the 261 MMDAs. As I speak not even a pesewa has been sent to any Assembly after a month of informing the house and the Ghanaian people about the release.
Is it that the Government is afraid of spending to meet its own statutory obligations as captured in their budget?
What’s is keeping the Government from releasing these funds?
Is the Government doing this just to keep their books clean and create a temporal economic stability at the expense of the country’s developments?
How long are they going to be able to sustain this approach?”.
