Don’t blame Ghana’s youth for galamsey when you’ve not provided them with jobs—Ken Agyapong to gov’t

Flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has defended Ghanaian youth involved in illegal mining.
According to him, if the country had created jobs for the teeming youth in the country, they wouldn’t have resorted to illegal mining.
The former legislator was addressing party folks in Wassa Amenfi when he made this known.
He acknowledged that the extent of illegal mining is a tragedy for the people, but they cannot be blamed entirely.
The former Assin Central Member of Parliament said, “Galamsey in Amenfi is a tragedy, but we must stop blaming the youth. They are not the problem; the lack of jobs is. Ghana needs leadership that creates real economic opportunities. As a businessman, I will deliver the jobs so our young people can work with dignity. VOTE NO. 1 on the Ballot”.
Ghana’s fight against illegal mining has been a very tedious one, as the fight does not seem to see the end of the tunnel.
Several governments have made an effort to arrest the menace, but successive governments have failed as illegal mining continues to destroy water bodies and forest reserves.
