Don’t give me marriage advice I didn’t ask for

Toyosi Etim Effiong, wife of Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong, has cautioned against unsolicited marriage advice, stressing that every relationship has unique dynamics outsiders do not fully understand.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Toke Moments podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, she said, “Don’t give marriage advice unsolicited because I understand the peculiarities of my marriage.”
Toyosi argued that many women remain in unhealthy relationships due to a lack of self-identity. “A lot of women just stay in relationships because they don’t even have a sense of who they are. There’s no self-identity,” she stated.
When asked whether infidelity is a deal-breaker, Toyosi declined to impose a universal rule, saying honesty matters more than public expectations. “It’s okay to be honest if it’s not,” she said.
She also addressed public perceptions about long-term marriages, noting that appearances can be misleading.
“From the outside, you think it’s all hunky-dory,” she said, adding, “Will she come and tell you what she has dealt with?”
