DopeNation snubs 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards – Here’s why

Ghanaian music duo DopeNation has finally broken their silence on why they refused to file their songs for this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Addressing speculations raised by DJ Slim on The Street is Watching podcast, the duo suggested that their absence from the awards scheme is deeper than just nominations.
Responding to a question from a listener who claimed DopeNation did not submit their works and ignored attempts by the awards research team to reach them, the duo hit back, implying that the industry has been unfair to them.
“We have been battling a lot that can’t be said out of respect for some people in this hypocritical music space,” DopeNation stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
They went on to remind the public of issues dating back to 2021, hinting that their decision to stay out of the scheme was not sudden.
“However, can we all recall from 2021? Maybe some of us will know this is not just about awards, sir. Gradually, this industry will be losing its ‘TRUE ARTISTS,’” they added.
While they did not directly confirm or deny whether the TGMA research team reached out to them, their response suggests a deep-seated frustration with the industry.
