Dr Adutwum calls on Mahama’s gov’t to end examination malpractice in Ghana

Former Education Minister Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum has urged the current government to work hard in the fight against examination malpractice.
He says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under his leadership did their best to fight malpractices, especially at the basic level.
However, they could not achieve a hundred per cent, and therefore, it will take the effort of the current government to fight it.
“I will be very happy if this government ends examination malpractice in Ghana. We tried that with the basic education, and the leakages on the BECE papers stopped. At the basic level, we decided to set different questions for different students with BECE,” he said.
To him, the government needs to find the money to buy machines for WAEC to help them vary questions per student, and that will help stop malpractice in Ghana.
“For now, leakages do not exist; however, malpractices within the room can be stopped if WAEC serializes the questions, among others. Until you digitalize exams in Ghana, malpractices in the classroom cannot be won but I told WAEC that all the investments they need to ensure that the fight is won should be made available by the government.”
His comments come on the back of students who have failed in various papers at the University of Ghana because they were caught being involved in examination malpractice.
