DR Congo used voodoo during the penalties—Nigeria’s Head Coach complains

Head Coach of the Nigerian male National Team, Éric Sékou Chelle has blamed his side’s failure during the penalty shootout on voodoo.
According to him, DR Congo’s players and technical team were spotted sprinkling some water on the pitch while the penalty shootouts were taking place.
“During all the penalty decisions, the guy from Congo did some voodoo. Every time, and so this is why I was nervous after him. Something like, I don’t know if it was water,” he told journalists after the game.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after losing 3-4 to DR Congo in penalties in the playoffs that took place in Morocco during the international break.
